What’s in a name? For starters…everything.
A name really says it all, perhaps second only to logo. And with a winning name and logo you can imprint your company into the minds of millions, whether they’re buying your products and services or not.
So how can this be done, how can that perfect name be found?
Easy, follow some of these solid tips for getting your company the name it deserves, and gets recognised because of.

Give a Benefit
Shouldn’t your company be helping me? I mean, why else am I going to give you money? So make that clear in your company name, that you’re going to help me.
How can you help your customer? By providing them with a benefit, and the easiest way to do that is telling them straight-up what you’re about.
“Frank’s Fine Chicken” is rather long, but it clearly tells people what the company does. Now how about “Gourmet Eats?” Hmm, I wonder what food they have? I know the other place has chicken, but these guys? I think I’ll pass.
Take the company “Jasmine Hair.” That sounds kind of interesting, intriguing, and I know they can help me with my hair, maybe even making it smell like…jasmine.
What if they’d gone with “Norman Hair and Rejuvenation?” Doesn’t quite make you want to run into the shop.
Names are very important, and by telling people what you provide and giving them a clear benefit in the process you’ll make a mark. And when you make a mark a potential customer will remember your brand. If they remember you they just might bring you up in passing to another person. The process continues and pretty soon your stellar company name is rolling off tongues everywhere.
So get a pad and paper and jot down 10 name ideas, really fast and without worry. Write the silliest things you can imagine. Write 10 more!
The point is, get everything out and on paper and go through it afterwards. Find what works, what doesn’t, and try to figure out why. If you can do that you’ll be well on your way to finding that perfect company name.
Promote your new company name
It’s important to provide a benefit, and also at the same time it’s critical to tell people what you provide within your company name, including key words. Coming right out and making it clear is probably the best way to have sales long-term.
If you want to get more sales long-term you need to be on the internet. As you’ve probably found out by now, just being there isn’t going to cut it. Instead you need to be taking steps to ensure your website is found and your products and services are seen on Google.
This is Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). What you need to do is work out which keywords or phrases go best with your company name and target market.
So if you’re selling hair products like our friends at Jasmine Hair then you’ll want to figure out all the different words associated with those products and services that people might type into Google.
Make a large list then focus on what works or what seems the most likely. This is how you can refine your brand / company name further. Or even come up with your slogan, which can sit below your company name on your business stationery or on your website. It’s another great way to tell customer who you are and what you offer, as well as pick up traffic from those internet search engines like Google.
